$35 Millionboost for region 5’s health care delivery

Residents of Region Five, West Berbice, will be treated to an upgraded health care system in 2019.
Member of Parliament, Jennifer Wade on Wednesday last said Government’s vision is to provide an upgrade to the Accident and Emergency Unit at the Fort Wellington Hospital, Health Centres across the region and extension to Patient Wards at the Mahaicony Hospital through a $35.9 Million allocation in the 2019 Budget.
“This is commendable since Guyanese must be among the healthiest of people,” Wade said.
The Region Five Parliamentary representative also said the region, suffered poor healthcare service for years and that the Coalition government will be committed to ensuring that its residents receive the care and health benefits similar to residents of other urban areas.
The Member of Parliament robustly defended the budgetary estimates for capital and current expenditures for the fiscal year 2019.
