Ambassador of Sovereign Military Hospitaller Order of Saint John of Jerusalem of Rhodes and of Malta Calls on Foreign Minister

Ambassador of the Sovereign Military Hospitaller Order of Saint John of Jerusalem of Rhodes and of Malta to the Co-operative Republic of Guyana, His Excellency Roland Donin De Rosière, today called on Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Honourable Karen Cummings. This was the Ambassador’s first meeting with Dr. Cummings in her capacity as Foreign Minister. They discussed the enhancement of bilateral relations.

The Sovereign Military Order of Malta is involved in a number of humanitarian activities worldwide. In Guyana, it has assisted with two community development projects, namely, the construction of the Mercy Wing vocational centre in Sophia and of the community development centre in New Amsterdam.

Guyana and the Sovereign Military Order of Malta established formal diplomatic relations on May 19, 1999. Earlier this year, they celebrated the twentieth anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations.
