DPI, Guyana, Monday, April 22, 2019
Authored by Wendy Natasha Fraser, the book ‘Chosen Vessels,’ points readers to various scriptures and quotations where they can seek answers to life’s baffling questions; it demonstrates avenues which persons could contemplate, should they want to have a successful fundamental change in their life. Most importantly, the book encourages individuals to continuously seek to find their true purpose in life.
The book contains ten chapters, with headings such as; The big questions, You, your journey and your weapons, what comes before authority and power, Knowing purpose and The call, just to name a few.
During the simple book launch at the New Amsterdam Town Hall on the evening of April 21, Deputy Mayor of New Amsterdam, Wainwright McIntosh remarked: “A book is our companion, an educational tool, storage of knowledge, which seeks to empower our mind and brain. You will all agree with me that a book takes us into a room of light and away from the darkness of ignorance. And so, I commend you (Wendy) on this bold step and I would like to encourage all of us to adopt the practice of reading so that we can become a literate town and nation.”
Also giving testimony to ‘Chosen Vessels’ impact was Marissa Brutus, who has already had the opportunity to read the new book. “By just reading the first paragraph you can sense where this book is going… To me, it speaks to its readers and encourages them to not sit idly by but to keep pressing on, no matter what your situation may be.”
In her remarks, the author thanked her relatives, colleagues, friends and supporters for their contributions during the journey to her success.
The Author
39-year-old Wendy Natasha Fraser resides at Vryman’s Erven Scheme, New Amsterdam. Her early school years were attended at the New Amsterdam Primary School, after which she completed her secondary education at the Berbice Educational Institute (BEI). Besides writing, Fraser works full-time as a clerk at the New Amsterdam Hospital.
Fraser believes strongly in her Christian faith. In an interview with the Department of Public Information (DPI), the author revealed that early in her life she was diagnosed with an illness, which caused her to rely on her faith in God.
According to Fraser, it was back in 2019, while she was reading the Book of Acts in the Bible, about “the story of Paul-Saul,” the title for her book Chosen Vessels came to mind. “I have decided to write the book ‘Chosen Vessels’ because I felt living a purpose driven life is essential. We all know that without a purpose, life has no meaning,”
Fraser shared that she has other material and hopes to launch another book in December of this year.
