“Decide who you trust with your future”-Minister Cummings
DPI, Guyana, Sunday, January 12, 2020
The residents of C Field Sophia and surrounding environs were called to decide whom they trusted with their and their children’s futures.
Making the call was Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Karen Cummings as she addressed the residents gathered at the ‘four corners.’ She cautioned them not to place their futures in the hands of people who are bent on enriching themselves.
The Minister reminded that in 2015, the people let their voices be heard and initiated change. Today Guyanese are enjoying better infrastructure, healthcare, education, security, wages and salaries among other meaningful services. Minister Cummings added that the progress made in the four years under the current government far outweighed the 33 years of the previous administration.
According to the minister, this process of change takes time, as such the government has been working assiduously to ensure that a better life is provided to all Guyanese. “… it is important that as a government we prioritise the important issues…” Minister Cummings underscored. “Guyana is on the rise and if we are to achieve our potential, we have to a government that is accountable and transparent,” she added.
Minister Cummings said that the government has achieved much but recognises that there is more to be done and with the support of the people assures that better will come.
“You are living witness of the changes taking place in Guyana,” the Minister stated.
