Decline in COVID-19 cases in Kwebanna
− health teams monitoring
COVID-19 cases in Kwebanna, Barima-Waini (Region One) have stabilised over the past week and current positive cases have reduced.
The initial figure of 62 infected persons has dropped to 52.
“We’ve seen a slight change. We had 62 active cases. We have now been able to discharge 10 persons so as of today our active cases are 52, which is a good indication. Although we’ve been testing more people in Region One and in Kwebanna specifically, we have not recorded any additional cases,” Minister of Health, Hon. Dr. Frank Anthony said during Wednesday’s COVID-19 Update.
Minister Anthony noted that the lockdown remains in place in Kwebanna and visiting health officials continue to work with local staff to both treat and educate members of the community about the disease.
With respect to neighbouring communities which showed a spike over the last weekend, officials continue to monitor and are conducting sanitisation exercises in those areas.
