Education team to assess schools in Region Three

The Regional administration of Region Three (Essequibo Islands-West Demerara) has committed to assembling a team of education officials to conduct visits to schools in the region. The objective of this initiative is garner a comprehensive understanding of any issues that those schools may be facing.

This was disclosed by Regional Executive Officer (REO) Denis Jaikaran J.P.  The REO also disclosed that the Essequibo Islands Secondary School’s (EISS) Headteacher Sheik Amon HAS called for the administration to continue development of the institution.

According to the REO, the headteacher commended the regional administration for the upgrades, thus far. Among these are the installation of a new Home Economics room, Information Technology and Integrated Science laboratories, a much-needed facelift and resurfacing of the “bottom flat” of school made possible through contributions by the PTA.

It was highlighted however, that the educational institution’s electrical system needs to be rewired.

REO Jaikaran said once the team has completed their assessment visits, a final document will be submitted to the Ministry of Finance. This will ensure any recommendation will be catered for, in the national budget. This, he added, will enable the administration to create a room for improvement and development of the schools.
