DPI, Guyana, Wednesday May 15, 2019
“The National Assembly is meeting today and there is a supplementary paper to be presented by the Minister of Finance on finances for GECOM.”
This is according to President David Granger.
The Head of State made this statement in response to questions from the media in relation to GECOM’s readiness for election in event that the Caribbean Court of Justice (CCJ) makes such a ruling.
However, the president noted that at this point he could not state when the actual vote on this matter will take place.
“I cannot say when the actual money for GECOM will be voted upon, but there will be a supplementary paper at today’s sitting of the National Assembly.”
During the afternoon’s session of the 114th sitting of the National Assembly, several bills are slated to be read, some for the second and third time, these include; The Interception of Communications (Amendment) Bill 2019, The Procurement (Amendment) Bill 2019, The Constitutional Reform Consultative Commission Bill 2017, The Petroleum Commission of Guyana Bill and The Food Safety Bill, which comes up for a third reading. The Food Safety Bill was published in 2016.
There is also to be an Adoption of the report of the Special Select Committee on the Food Safety Bill 2016 as well as Adoption of the report of the Public Accounts Committee on its examination of the Public Accounts for the year 2015.
