First Lady receives courtesy call from CEO of Global Seafood Distributors

Georgetown, Guyana – (July 11, 2018) First Lady, Mrs. Sandra Granger, today, received a courtesy call at her State House office from the Chief Executive Officer of Global Seafood Distributors, Mrs. Allison Butters-Grant in an effort to discuss possible areas of collaboration with special focus on the First Lady’s Self Reliance and Success in Business programme.

In an invited comment, Mrs. Butters-Grant explained that First Lady’s work with women and her commitment to women’s development had piqued her interest, more specifically the batch of women from Essequibo Islands –West Demerara (Region Three) Self Reliance in Business workshop who had created a solar dryer for salted fish.

“The First Lady is working on a lot of the sustainable development growth within the country and especially with her programme with women, there are lots of synergies between the industries she would have targeted, especially in the fish industry, where she worked with some women to develop a solar salt fish dryer over the river. So Global Seafood is looking forward to working with those women in order to do some development and maybe identify synergies for partnerships with them, so we’ll see how we can work together in the strengthening and inspiration of our women,” the Chief Executive Officer said.

Focusing on Global Seafood Distributors’ corporate social responsibility, Mrs. Butters-Grant also indicated her interest in working along with the First Lady on other community projects.

Global Seafood Distributors is a local seafood processing and packaging company, which supplies products to Guyana, various countries in the Caribbean and United States from their fish processing plant in Guyana.
