Insel Air to operate additional flights to Guyana
GINA, Georgetown, June 30, 2016
Minister of State, Joseph Harmon, today revealed that Insel Air International B.V of Curacao was given approval to operate additional scheduled air services. The approval comes in light of Minister of Public Infrastructure, David Patterson’s proposal for a commission to be granted to the airline.
Addressing the media at the post-Cabinet briefing at the Ministry of the Presidency, Minister Harmon explained that the airline was first granted approval to operate daily scheduled air services between Guyana and Curacao in April 2014.
However, cabinet’s approval will allow Insel Air to operate thrice weekly scheduled flights between Curacao, Guyana and Boa Vista, Brazil. The scheduled flights will begin on July 03 2016 using an aircraft which has the capacity for 80 passengers. This initiative will improve the direct connectivity between Guyana and Brazil, Minister Harmon explained.
The airline officially entered the local market promising flights from Guyana to Miami via Aruba and Curacao in June 2014.
Insel Air (formally Insel Air International B.V.) is a Dutch Caribbean airline that serves as the flag carrier of Curaçao, with its head office in Maduro Plaza, Willemstad, Netherlands, Antilles.
