Massive infrastructural development in 2021 -Minister Persaud

Minister within the Ministry of Local Government and Regional Development, Hon. Anand Persaud has said massive infrastructural works would be undertaken to benefit citizens countrywide as soon as funds become available.

The Minister told DPI that that there are several plans, which will be realised in 2021.

“Once the funds are available, we will deliver the works based on the plans provided by the various Neighbourhood Democratic Councils (NDCs) and Regional Democratic Councils (RDCs) for 2021,” he said.

This approach is in keeping with President Dr. Mohamed Irfaan Ali’s vision for the involvement of all tiers of Government in development.

Since entering office, Minister Persaud said his Ministry has indicated to the various local organs to plan for the 2021 National Budget, especially for works that need to be prioritised.

With this in mind, he said, all contractors employed by the respective agencies need to execute their works effectively and efficiently.

Contractors will have to do the work based on the bill of quantities and I am imploring on residents, NDCs and RDCs to pay close attention at all of the ongoing works and those in the future,” he said.

This, the Minister said, it to ensure that the people get value for their money.
