Minister Teixeira returns school bus to Agatash village
Minister of Parliamentary Affairs and Governance, Hon. Gail Teixeira last weekend, returned the keys of a school bus to residents of Agatash, Bartica, Region Seven (Cuyuni-Mazaruni), some three years after it was sent for repairs. The keys were handed over during a two-day outreach to Regions Seven and Ten.
Residents said the bus was sent to the workshop shortly after it was handed over to them in 2016.
However, the Government, in order to ensure that transportation was available to take children to school repaired the vehicle.
“Take care of it. If you have problems call the REO, and take care of it in the interest of the children of Agatash,” Minister Teixeira said.
The bus would also be used to transport senior citizens in and out of the village.
Meanwhile, Minister Teixeira, along with a team from the Ministry of Public Service, will be visiting Agatash and other Amerindian communities in another two weeks, to roll out the Government’s 20,000 online scholarship programme. The Ministry of Education Ministry is partnering with the Public Service Ministry to provide the scholarships, which would be facilitated through the Guyana Online Academy of Learning (GOAL).
