Ministry of Natural Resources donates 10 bins to the Linden Town Council as part of “A Clean Environment Project”

LINDEN, Guyana – Honourable Raphael G.C. Trotman M.P., Minister of Natural Resources and a team from the Ministry of  Natural Resources on Saturday April 30, 2017 donated 10 garbage bins to the Linden Mayor and Town Council (M&TC) in Linden, Region 10, as part of its ‘A Clean Environment’ initiative.

The donation of the items is meant to aid that community’s waste management efforts. The team handed over the items in the Municipal Conference Room in the presence of Ms. Erlena Obermuller, acting Town Clerk; Ms. Crystal Drakes, Head of the Environmental Department, and Ms. Alessa Hodge, Environmental Officer.

During the simple handing over ceremony Minister Trotman stated that his Ministry recognises the need for proper garbage disposal since it can have catastrophic repercussions on the environment and has committed to similar gestures in the future.

In her acceptance remarks Ms. Drakes expressed gratitude to the Ministry on behalf of the Linden M&TC for its timely donation and is looking forward to its continued support.

Under the “A Clean Environment” project, the Ministry has made similar donations and has coordinated clean-up exercises in Mabaruma, Port Kaituma, Itaballi, Kamarang, Kwakwani and Good Hope as it continues to demonstrate to communities the importance of a clean environment for human health and wellbeing.  The initiative targets communities with linkages to the Natural Resources sector.
