Press Release – Minister Bharrat updated on work of the Advisory Panel on Local Content

Minister of Natural Resources, Hon. Vickram Bharrat on Friday, October 30th was updated on the work of the Advisory Panel on Local Content by its Chairman, Mr. Shyam Nokta.

During the month of October 2020, the Panel engaged a cross-section of national stakeholders including Government Ministries and Agencies, Private Sector organisations, labour unions, Indigenous Peoples organisations, education and training institutions, civil society organisations, oil and gas operators and primary oil and gas contractor and support companies.  The purpose of these engagements was to solicit from these stakeholders their perspectives on local content, and a policy and legislation for local content.

The Panel has been tasked with undertaking a review of all existing initiatives and policies relating to local content in the petroleum sector and to provide guidance for the development of Guyana’s Local Content Policy and Legislation. The Panel is expected to submit its report and recommendations in November 2020.

The Panel members comprise Mr. Shyam Nokta (Chair), Mr. Carl Greenidge, Mr. Anthony Paul, Mr. Kevin Ramnarine, Mr. Carville Duncan, and Mr. Floyd Haynes.
