PUBLIC NOTICE – Damage to road by heavy-duty machinery

Tuesday, February 19, 2019 – On Saturday, February 16, 2019 the Ministry of Public Infrastructure’s National Task Force Commission received a report of a bulldozer traversing the recently rehabilitated West Coast Demerara Highway opposite the Parika Full Gospel Fellowship.

According to residents the driver was asked to refrain from driving on the road with the bulldozer. The driver noted that the damage was small and he will fix it.

The Ministry of Public Infrastructure wishes to ask ALL heavy-duty machinery drivers to refrain from driving their bulldozers, rice harvesters and/or tractors directly on the road.  This irresponsible behavior leads to damage of valuable infrastructure and hinders much needed infrastructural development within the community.

The Ministry of Public Infrastructure will impede and or prosecute persons found damaging the road. Residents are asked to contact the Ministry’s Public Relations Officer on 227-0799/614-3069 or the nearest Police Station when drivers damage the road.

Kindly see photographs below of the recently rehabilitated road that has now been damaged.
