Recht-Door-Zee residents get house lots

─ Other communities to be allotted are Edingburg, Cornelia Ida and Stewartville

─ More house lots will be handed out in keeping with CH&PA’s mandate

In keeping with the mandate of Central Housing and Planning Authority (CH&PA), Minister within the Ministry of Communities, Valarie Adams-Yearwood visited Recht-Door-Zee, Region 3 and provided more than 60 persons with house lots.

The outreach which was held at the Region 3, Regional Democratic Council was a ‘One Stop Shop’ exercise which dealt with applicants who would have already applied to CH&PA for house lots.

Minister Adams-Yearwood said that her team will be returning to Recht-Door-Zee to continue the allocation of house lots but this time to middle-income applicants.

“It is known that persons in the lower income bracket signify the largest number of families in need of housing and they are also the group that has the most trials to obtain decent, inexpensive housing,” the minister said.

Several allottees expressed their appreciation on being allocated their house lot and reiterated the “peace of mind” that comes with finally having their own land on which to build to provide shelter for their families.

The minister added that she will be visiting communities of Edingburg, Cornelia Ida and Stewartville also in Region 3 to conduct additional land allocation outreaches.
