Remarkable hinterland development under Coalition Govt
DPI, Guyana, Sunday, November 17, 2019
“Your government is working in the best interest of all its people.”
This was the assurance given to the residents of Santa Mission, Region 3 by Minister within the Ministry of Communities, with responsibility for Housing, Hon. Annette Ferguson.
“We are looking to ensure that all communities benefit from the services that the government provides. Everyone is treated equally, and that is why His Excellency made it very clear that he will be a President for all of a Guyana,” Minister Ferguson told the residents.
She noted that the administration is working on bridging the gaps between the hinterland and coastland and has not withheld development from any group of individuals. According to the minister, a survey of the hinterland communities would show that more development has taken place in four years than over two decades under the previous administration.
The massive developments in infrastructure, education, health, security, tourism, and agriculture, among others, were cited including the declaration of four new towns in Regions 1, 7, 8 and 9.
Residents were also told about the role community radio stations – [Radio Mabaruma, Radio Bartica, Radio Mahdia, Radio Orealla, Radio Lethem and Radio Aishalton] – play in closing gap between the coast and hinterland with the dissemination of information.
However, Minister Ferguson warned residents to be mindful of persons who will try to downplay the strides made by the coalition government. She advised the residents that naysayers will visit their community but reminded that greater things are in store for Guyana under the guidance of Coalition-led administration.
