The Rupununi Chambers of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) continues to provide opportunities for the business community in the Upper-Takatu Upper Essequibo, Region 9.
On Saturday, the RCCI, in collaboration with the Coalition Government, kicked off their eighteenth annual business exhibition at the St. Ignatius Benab under the theme “Encouraging sustainable regional development through the use of local resources.”
During brief remarks, President of the RCCI, Daniel Gajie expressed satisfaction with the hosting of the exposition for its 18th consecutive year. Gajie noted that the body, which was formed almost two decades ago, has achieved a lot to date.
He highlighted that over the past 19 years, the RCCI has contributed to the economic transformation of several communities. “We are happy to have brought satisfaction to the communities,” Gajie remarked.
According to the RCCI president, one of the recent developments is the decentralised registration of businesses in the region.
Earlier in the day, Prime Minister, Hon. Moses Nagamootoo toured the Rupununi Expo before its official opening. The Prime Minister commented on the uniqueness of the products and encouraged the exhibitors to utilise the internet to make themselves more marketable.
The exhibition runs from November 23 to 24, 2019.
