Minister of Citizenship, Winston Felix today reminded residents of Belladrum during a public meeting that this Government is committed to the development of all.
This followed another successful hosting of the fifth government outreach at Fort Wellington Regional Democratic Council in Mahaica-Berbice. Residents of Belladrum concurred with the Minister’s statement and lauded the strides the Government has made since 2015.
72-year-old Selwyn Grenville said that he is pleased with the upward trajectory Guyana is on. The resident of the community of El Dorado noted that the 5B’s initiative, developed by President David Granger has been highly successful in the region. Mahaica-Berbice was the first area to benefit from the shuttle bus system which serves Nursery, Primary and Secondary students free of cost.
The Five B’s initiative comprises the provision of boats, bicycles, buses, breakfast, and books for students to have improved learning outcomes.
Minister Felix cited the Government’s commitment to developing Guyana. “We are trying to remove the segregation that existed in development, we are set on developing the entire Guyana,” Felix said.
During the exercise, several employees of a Security Firm who are attached to the Belladrum Secondary School raised the issue that they had not received salaries for several months. The Minister swiftly dealt with the issue, directly liaising with the Regional Executive Officer Ovid Morrison to immediately address the issue. The employees have since received a first level of redress.
The Minister further reminded that the Government in its commitment to its people has continued to provide services and resolutions in order the provide a good life for all its citizens.
