Recently appointed Minister within the Ministry of Communities, with responsibility for Housing, Annette Ferguson has assured Essequibians that persons who have applied for house lots since in the 1990s will be given priority.
Speaking with the Department of Public Information (DPI), during the ‘Government comes to you’ outreach at Damon Square, Anna Regina, the minister said that she is on the ground to listen to the residents of Essequibo and will address issues once she is aware of them, despite being fairly new in the ministry.
Meanwhile, after a 7-year wait, Bhowandai (only name given), a grandmother of seven now has a house lot of her own. She received a letter of allocation from Prime Minister, Moses Nagamootoo and Minister with responsibility for Housing, Annette Ferguson.
An ecstatic Bhowandai said: “Ah feel glad ah getting a house lot.” The 57-year-old is one of many who received allocation letters for a house lots at Onderneeming, at the ‘Government comes to you’ outreach in Essequibo, Region 2, today.
