‘Guyana Shop’ launches Local Agro-processors’ Exhibit

DPI, Guyana, Friday, July 13, 2018

The Guyana Marketing Corporation (Guyana Shop) launched its Local Agro-processors’ Exhibit today, where it will be featuring two local businesses each week. The exhibitions will be held in front of the Republic Bank at its Robb Street entrance

The event started today from 09:00hrs to 15:00hrs.

This week local businesses were UMANI and INAVA. The exhibit illustrated the various products these two businesses have to advertise. Persons will also be able to sample the products that will be on display on the various days. Items such as honey, cassava bread, seasonings, among other locally manufactured products will be on sale.

The Department of Public Information (DPI) spoke to the representative for INAVA, Rhea Wallace who said INAVA has been around for four years and the business is growing as it also exports to other countries in the Caribbean. It produces lemonade as well as purified water. The INAVE line of Lemonade comes in various flavours such as the strawberry, soursop and Guava which is very affordable and sufficient for the people.

Wallace believes that this is a great initiative for marketing and it will help the business to grow. She encourages the public to support and enjoy their local products. “The idea of them being out there and advertising their business is great for the business and will surely draw more customers since a lot of Guyanese are not as familiar with the product.”

UMAMI is also a local brand which is there to satisfy the needs of the public. The UMANI line carries various items such as hot sauce, ketchup, barbeque sauce and garlic sauce. These are available at any local supermarket and are represented as the best in terms of presentation

Mattica McAllister, the representative for UMAMI, stated that being a part of the Guyana Marketing Co-operation helps the business to establish and move forward.

Both businesses are located at Lot. 342 Cummings Street. UMAMI contact information is 220- 9117 and INAVA is 231-6256.

Initiatives such as these by the Guyana Marketing Corporation are held to promote local businesses and raise awareness of the variety of locally produced food and goods
