Mrs. Sita Nagamootoo, the wife of the Prime Minister, Moses Nagamootoo, cheerfully greeted her guests from Akelo ABC Playgroup and Dorette’s A to Z Preschool earlier today.

The busy bodied children and excited parents and teachers graciously accepted the invitation by Mrs. Nagamootoo to visit the Official Residence of the Prime Minister (ORPM), Main Street.

This endeavour began on Thursday when the Nagamootoo family welcomed the students of Little Angel’s Playschool.

During their visit to the Prime Minister’s Residence, the excited audience admired, with awe, the interior décor of the ORPM. Additionally, they were entertained with a short video presentation on the history of the Heritage House.

Director of Akelo ABC Playgroup and Daycare, Alicia Harris expressed gratitude for the invitation extended by both the Prime Minister and his wife. She added that the example set by Mrs. Nagamootoo and her family is “an encouragement to both parents and teachers” as they groom children to be future leaders.

In her brief address to her guests, Mrs. Nagamootoo said that there is need to preserve this historical structure, and others like it, for future generations to have a real connection with their history and culture.

The welcoming of youths to the ORPM is part of a yearly programme coordinated by Mrs. Nagamootoo. Usually, Mrs. Nagamootoo welcomes youths into her home to commemorate Mashramani, Independence and Education Month.

The initiative began in 2016 when the Prime Minister and his family moved into the Official Residence of the Prime Minister (ORPM).

Mrs. Nagamootoo said that she opens the doors of the 150-year-old Heritage House to satisfy the curiosity of the Guyanese people.
