Over 100 Secondary Schools, 98 Primary Schools connected to e-Gov network – 34 REOs, TVET centres also connected under IDEAL programme

The National Data Management Authority (NDMA) through its Schools Connectivity Initiative, to date, has managed to connect over 98 Primary Schools across the country to the e-Government network, with that number to increase during the course of the year.

NDMA Chairman, Floyd Levi said recently that after completing the Secondary Schools Connectivity Project last year, with a directive, the authority began connecting the Primary Schools.
“The project was meant to give the Primary Schools’ administration the ability to use the internet to connect with the Ministry of Education,” Levi noted.
Teachers are now able to acquire information and other resources using the internet to boost curriculum delivery.
The NDMA Chairman said that the agency was able to create a private network linking the Ministry of Education with Regional Education Officers, thus improving capacity.
These initiatives fall under the broader Improving Digital Equity, Access and Learning (IDEAL) Programme.
To date, 106 secondary schools, as well as 34 Regional Education Offices, Tertiary, Technical Vocation Education Training (TVET) and Skills Training Institutions have been connected with free internet all across the country.
