Queen’s Young Leaders awardee to receive National Youth Award

Educator and recipient of the Queen’s Young Leaders Award, Marva Langevine, will be honoured at the 2018 National Youth Awards.
This was disclosed by Director of Youth, Melissa Carmichael-Haynes who said that Langevine will be receiving a special honour for her diligence and work in the area of youth development. Extending congratulations to Langevine, Carmichael-Haynes said that it is important that young people be recognised for their efforts.
The twenty-five-year-old who resides on the West Coast of Demerara received a Queen’s Young Leaders Award for her work in transforming the lives of bereaved, sick and underprivileged children and families in Guyana.
The Youth Director said that it is important that young people can voluntarily assist with the development of other youth within their community. “The department will certainly recognise her for her hard work during our award period for 2018. We just want to encourage her and congratulate her first of all for receiving the award and for continuously working with the young people that she does.”
The prestigious award ceremony will be held on International Youth Day 2018 on August 12. Carmichael-Haynes said that the nominations for deserving youth, groups, schools and organisations in recognition of their hard work and commitment are invited.
The categories for award include art, sport, volunteerism, youth entrepreneurship, agriculture and food security, environmental conservation and protection and innovation in science and technology.
“It does not matter who you are, you can nominate someone once you believe that they have been doing great work in any of the categories, you can nominate them for a national youth award,” the Youth Director stated.
Nomination forms can be downloaded from the Youth Department’s Facebook page or uplifted from its office on 91 Middle Street, Georgetown. The closing date for nominations is July 14.
